Mr. Gilbert Tsang
Gilbert Tsang grew up in Bedford, MA and attended Boston University earning a dual degree in International Studies and Economics. Upon graduation, Gilbert worked in Finance at Mellon Trust and Putnam Investments before taking a leap of faith and starting his own business. In partnership with his brother, they opened the doors to cafenation in Brighton, MA on December 19, 2003 where they served coffee, tea and crepes, as well as wholesaling coffee bean and espresso machines to other cafes, bakeries and restaurants.
From his positive experience from working with other like-minded hospitality business owners, Gilbert jumped at the opportunity to acquire MEM Tea Imports in 2009 - a leader in the Tea industry. After 15 years, the company has grown by 600%, employs 35 workers across six states, and has added two other tea brands to its portfolio - In Pursuit of Tea and Tamim Teas, a mushroom tea company. Looking towards the future, Gilbert will continue to streamline and broaden MEM Tea's international sourcing capabilities while advancing growth outside of the New England region through strategic partnerships with coffee roasters and other tea companies.
